Known for her outrageous comedy performances and songs, Award-winning Actress/Singer/Writer/Director/Producer/Gay Icon JULIE BROWN's star-turn role as Medusa, in MEDUSA, DARE TO BE TRUTHFUL, a spoof of Madonna´s film TRUTH OR DARE, earned her a Cable Ace Award and the Writer´s Guild Award. Her follow-up film, ATTACK OF THE 5´2" WOMAN, which she wrote, starred in and produced almost won her another Cable Ace Award for her song "Queen of the Ice." Her fingers were crossed but inevitably she lost to her longtime rival, Barbra Streisand (she wishes).
Julie started her career at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco where she was attempting to become a serious actress. She was soon performing in clubs where she was spotted by Lily Tomlin and given her first role in a movie: THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING WOMAN.
Upon moving back to Los Angeles, she was a regular on EVENING AT THE IMPROV and was soon making frequent guest appearances on such hit shows as HAPPY DAYS, LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY and THE JEFFERSONS.
In the mid-80´s Julie´s album, "Goddess in Progress" hit the Billboard Charts with the brilliant songs "Homecoming Queen´s Got a Gun", "I Like ´Em Big and Stupid" and "Cause I'm a Blonde." This album gained her national radio attention and countless TV appearances that led to her own series on MTV aptly titled, JUST SAY JULIE.
For the big screen, Julie wrote and starred in the cult film, EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY. Her other career highlights include her role as the gym teacher in the movie (and subsequent TV series) CLUELESS; starring on the FOX Sketch show THE EDGE and guest starring on the HBO Series SIX FEET UNDER as the bubbly Sissy Pasquese. She is also frequently seen as a commentator on E!´s various entertainment and top 100 specials. Later this year she will be appearing in the title role of "Squeaky" in the indie film FAT ROSE AND SQUEAKY with Louise Fletcher and Cecily Tyson, an experience she calls "memorable and psychotic!"
Onstage, Julie has been performing in Los Angeles in her one-woman show SLUTS-THE MUSICAL and in the brilliant Justin Tanner´s plays OKLAHOMO and SPACE THERAPY.
